2015 Already?

Hi everyone,
So with today being New Years Eve I thought I'd do a little round up of 2014, I cannot believe how quick this year has gone! This year has been pretty hectic for me, both blog-wise and in my personal life. Sufficed to say I started this year with good blogging intentions, however over the last few months I've been a bad blogger. I've stopped commenting on blogs and posting as often. The truth is university has just been so hectic that I've hardly had time to just sit and read blog posts! - it's a terrible excuse but my plan is to keep on top of everything in 2015 and comment on blogs more regularly like I used to!
Anyway, onto the round-up!
Follower-wise my blog has:

684 Facebook likes (2014 goal - 40)
417 followers on Instagram (2014 goal - 75)
304 Tumblr Followers (2014 goal - 250)
147 Twitter followers
112 Members (2014 goal - 100)
118 Bloglovin' followers (2014 goal - 100)
48 followers on Google + (2014 goal - 100)

By comparing this to Last Year's Round-up you can see I have increase in followers, especially on Facebook! I think the only goal I haven't met is Google +.

I think the progression of my nail art from 2013 to 2014 can best be viewed from my Tribal Pop Art Series, which I started in 2013:

As you can see the style has not only progressed by the the nail art as well, the lines are a lot cleaner.
In 2014 I did take on the mammoth task which was the 31 Day Nail Art Challenge. This has definitely improved my nail art skills but also encouraged my to push myself nail art-wise something which I wanted to achieve in 2014. I also became a member of the Polish Party - which I really enjoy, however I've been slacking on, and need to take part in again as of 2015. I also took part in the Lacquer Legion, which made me think outside the box a lot for nail art.

Here is a round of my favourite nail art designs from 2014:

I'd like to say a big thank you to everyone who follows me, comments and reads my blog. I would also like to say a big thank you to those of you in the blogging community who guest posted for my in the summer (see the round up here)!  - it meant that I could concentrate on my a levels and get to into the university I wanted! - I am forever in your debt Robin, Grace, Emma, Jo, Emily and Cherelle!

Overall I think 2014 has been a pretty good year! I'm not going to set myself any goals this year, instead I'm just gonna let the nail art do the talking and focus on my blog content, nail art and commenting a lot more on other blogs!
I hope you all have a great New Years Eve!

What is your favourite design of mine?
Let me know what you think

Barry M Persian

Hi everyone,
I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and are looking forward to the New Year!
Anyway, today I thought I'd show you a nail polish which I received for Christmas! Now you all know how much I love purple, duochromes and metallic nail polishes so as you can imagine as soon as Barry M added Persian to their Aquarium collection it immediately went on my wishlist! Luckily one of my friends bought it for me as a Christmas present, and I couldn't resist testing it out!

This nail polish is available from the Barry M website, Boots and Superdrug for £3.99

Christmas Nails!

Hi everyone,
So I am back home for Christmas! I got back from university over the weekend but as soon as I got back I had to start work! To say the least it's been pretty busy for me the past few days and I doubt it'll be any quieter over Christmas!
Anyway it's Christmas Eve! Today I thought I'd show you the nail art which I'm going to wear for Christmas Day (tomorrow!). Here's my design:

I used Models Own HyperGel Sundress, Maybelline Color Show Urban Turquoise, Rimmel I Love Lasting Finish Your Majesty, Revlon Gold Coin and Sinful Colors Snow Me White

Festive wreath nails

Hi everyone,
So today's nails are a lot more festive than the ones I have previously posted this month. For some reason I'm not fully in the festive mood yet, maybe because I'm still at university until Friday or maybe I'm just waiting for the snow! Anyway, so for today's design I decided to do a festive wreath accent nail.
Here is the design I came up with:

I used No7 Sing the Blues, Models Own Pink Fizz, Barry M Gelly Coconut and Mint London Epic

Christmas Party Nails

Hi everyone,
So today I thought I'd show you the nails I wore to my work Christmas Party last weekend. I teamed these nails with a black lace skater dress, making the nails stand out.
Here is my design:

I used Rimmel Salon Pro Britpop and Revlon Gold Coin

Clothes Show Live 2014

Hi everyone,
So today I thought I'd post about Clothes Show Live, which I was lucky to go to with my best friend yesterday! To be honest I was surprised how much I managed to restrict myself, nail-polish wise, but obviously there was some goody-bags which I couldn't resist!

So for those of you who haven't heard of Clothes Show Live before, it's basically a massive exhibition of clothes, make-up, haircare and other products which are all sold with discounted prices and lots of free gifts. It's at the NEC in Birmingham and is a yearly event every December. This was the second time I've been to Clothes Show now and I can definitely say it didn't disappoint! As you can see I didn't leave empty handed!:

Half Tribal Pop Art

Hi everyone,
It's the 1st of December! I cannot believe how quick this year has gone! Anyway so with it being December I'm sure you'd expect there to be some festive nail art on the blog, but you might have to wait a little longer for that! Sadly today's design isn't festive, but the next nail art post I do will be! - I already have lots of ideas floating around for Christmas nail art!
Anyway so for today's design I decided to revisit my tribal pop art nails, as I haven't done those in a while.
This time I decided to do a sort of half and half design, here's what I came up with:

I used Maybelline Color Show Urban Turquoise, Sinful Colors Snow Me White and Avon Naillwear Pro+ in Licorice

Lacquer Legion - Yummy

Hi everyone,
So today I'm taking part in this months Lacquer Legion Challenge. It's been a while since I've taken part in the Lacquer Legion, things have just got on top of me and I've been very unorganised to say the least.
Anyway so this months theme is Yummy, and for this design the first thing that came into my mind was dessert, but instead I decided to go for something different!

Reverse Ombré Leopard Print

Hi everyone,
So for today's design I was inspired by the talented Sarah from My Mint Nails. Sarah actually did this design back in July and as soon as I saw it I put it on my list of nail designs to recreate! The design I'm talking about is a sort of reverse leopard with a gradient, which Sarah did with a summery pink/orange gradient, which you can see here. I decided to go for a cold colour scheme since were are coming up to winter now.
Here's my design:

I used Sinful Colors Snow Me White, Models Own Apple Pie, Models Own HyperGel Turquoise Gloss, Rimmel Salon Pro Britpop and Avon Nailwear Pro in Licorice

Coloured Geometric Cut Out

Hi everyone,
So for today's design I actually added something to the cut out design I created on Monday (click here to read the post). Although I really liked the simplicity of the colour scheme I felt like the design needed more colour so I dug out my other 2 HyperGels and added them to the design!
Here's the finished look:

I used Models Own HyperGel Turquoise Gloss, Models Own HyperGel Sundress, Models Own Purple Glare and LA Colors Art Deco Nail Art Striper in Black

Geometric Cut Out

Hi everyone,
So for todays design I decided to attempt a cut out/negative space design. These are the style of nail art where you leave sections of your nail clear so that you can see your naked nail bed. I decided to combine this with a geometric design, here's what I came up with:

I used Models Own HyperGel in Turquoise Gloss and LA Colors Art Deco Nail Striper in Black

It's my Blogiversary!

Hi everyone,
So today is my 2nd Blogiversary! - that's right I created this blog 2 years ago on bonfire night! Happy Bonfire Night by the way! It's crazy to think I've had this blog for 2 years, I remember starting this blog 2 months into my first year of A-levels and now I'm sat in my university room starting me first year at university (how crazy is that?!?). This blog has been a great outlet for me and I've made some great blogging friends along the way too!
Anyway so for today's post I thought I'd do a little look back over the past 2 years of The Sequined Nail. I got the idea and some of the topics from Roaring Nails and Dahlia Nails who both recently celebrated their 1st Blogiversary (I hope that's okay Emma, Jo and Robin)!

So first of all I thought I'd show you my favourite designs from the past year! There have been quite a lot, especially with the 31 Day Nail Art Challenge!
Here they are:

Models Own HyperGel Turquoise Gloss Swatch

Hi everyone,
So today I thought I'd show you a swatch of one of my newest Models Own Nail Polishes - Models Own HyperGel Turquoise Gloss. As you may know I took advantage of their 6 for £20 offer at on of their Bottleshops a few months ago and purchase my first ever HyperGels (you can read that post here)! When I went into the shop I already knew I needed this nail polish and the fact the sales assistant said it was their bestseller made me want to buy it even more!

This nail polish is a bright bold turquoise and it stands out too! I've been looking for a shade like this for a while so I was so happy when Models Own released it!

Dripping Blood

Hi everyone,
It's almost Halloween! So over this week I imagine a lot of you will be going out for various Halloween events for the build up to Halloween - I've already been to 2! Obviously for the Halloween events I went to I had to do my nails for the occasion!
Here's my design:

I used Nails Inc Luminous Red

31DC: Roundup Post

Hi everyone,
So I know the 31 Day Nail Art Challenge was actually over at the end of September and I finished the challenge a good few weeks ago but I still thought I'd do a little roundup post to summarise the whole challenge. I know I've been a really bad blogger over the past few weeks but fingers crossed I'm back on track now!

Anyway so at the beginning of September I decided to take on the mammoth task of the 31 Day Nail Art Challenge, as well as hold down a job and move into university. To some extent I succeeded as I finished the challenge, but not in the timescale I planned to. Here's a quick reminder of the challenge, courtesy of Sarah from Chalkboard Nails:

31DC2014 Day 31: Honour Nails you Love

Hi everyone,
So for today's inspired by challenge (well, Honour Nails you Love), I decided to do my best to recreate a design by one of my favourite bloggers, Brit Nails. For those of you who haven't heard of Allie or her blog, she is a very talented nail artist. She creates great nails art and her swatches are just stunning - I don't think there's a colour which doesn't suit her long nail beds!
Anyway the design I decided to recreate is one called Geo Lines and here is my recreation:

I used Barry M Gelly CoconutModels Own HyperGel Turquoise Gloss and LA Colors Art Deco Nail Striper in Black

31DC2014 Day 30: Tutorial you love

Hi everyone,
so continuing with my little catch-up I though I'd post the penultimate design in the 31 Day Nail Art Challenge - a design inspired by a tutorial you love. As soon as I saw this prompt I knew I'd have to use one of Jessie from Nailed it NZ's tutorials because her designs and tutorials are just amazing!
I decided to go with Jessie's Converse nails (see tutorial here) because I found her tutorial for this design really useful, here's my recreation following her tutorial:

I used  Sinful Colors Island Coral, Models Own HyperGel Purple Glare, Models Own HyperGel Top Turquoise, Models Own  HyperGel Sundress, No7 Stand Back, Sinful Colors Snow Me White , Rimmel I love Lasting Finish Your Majesty and  LA Colors Art Deco Nail Striper in Black

31DC2014 Day 29: Supernatural

Hi everyone,
First of all I'd like to apolagise for not posting the last 3 posts for the 31 Day Nail Art Challenge. I actually started University tiwards the end of the challenge and with freshers week and enrollment I was quite busy and I didn't have time to edit my posts. I did all of the designs and photographed them, I just didn't edit them and post them. Therefore over the next few days I shall post the remaining posts and a big roundup post towards the end of the week.
So for today's first prompt Supernatural (well day 29th's prompt) I was really stuck for ideas. I decided to go for fairies as my theme, but in the end I wasn't that happy with my result.
Here is my design:

I used Seventeen Chateau and No7 Nail Striper in Silver

31DC2014 Day 28: Inspired by a Flag

Hi everyone,
So for today's theme inspired by a flag I decided to represent 4 different countries on my nails, all of which mean something to me.

I used Fing'rs Heart 2 Art The Boys in Blue, La Colors Art Deco Nail Striper in White, Avon Nailwear Pro+ in Real Red, NYC High Line Green, Nails Inc Atomic, Sinful Colors Snow Me White, Avon Nailwear Pro + Licorice, Models Own Nail Art Pen in Yellow

31DC2014 Day 27: Inspired by artwork

Hi everyone,
So today the theme is inspired by artwork. These inspired by prompts are actually a lot harder than I anticipated and once again I found it hard to decide on my inspiration. In the end I decided to go with Roy Lichtenstein, who is famous for his pop art style artwork. Here is my design:

I used Sinful Colors Snow Me White, No7 So Simple, Avon Nailwear Pro in Real Red, Barry M Nail Art Pen in Black, Fing'rs Heart2Art Catch So Greys, Models Own Nail Art Pen in Yellow, Models Own Nail Art Pen in Blue

31DC2014 Day 26: Inspired by a pattern

Hi everyone,
So for today's prompt - Inspired by a pattern - I decided to try my best to recreate a pattern on a vest top I bought for my summer holiday this year.
Here is the pattern:

I bought this vest top for £4 from Primark.

I decided to pick a section of the pattern and recreate it on my nails, here's the outcome:

31DC2014 Day 25: Inspired by Fashion

Hi everyone,
So for today's theme, Inspired by Fashion, I've decided to go for a trend which has been pretty popular over the past few years and is constantly re-inventing itself: Peter Pan Collars. Personally I love them, they can be both smart and casual and there are so many different colour combinations to choose from. I decided to pick 4 of my favourite combinations to show you on my nails.
Here's my design:

I used No7 Foxglove, No7 Totally Teal, Models Own HyperGel Purple Glare, Avon Nailwear Pro+ in Licorice and Sinful Colors Snow Me White

31DC2014 Day 24: Inspired by a Book

Hi everyone,
So todays theme is inspired by a book. Personally I love reading so when I saw this prompt I was really happy. After looking through my bookshelf I decided I couldn't choose just one book so instead I chose a book series! I decided on The Princess Diaries which I enjoyed reading when I was younger. The book covers are really bright and colourful too!

31DC2014 Day 23: Inspired by a Movie

Hi everyone,
So today's theme is Inspired by a Film (or should I say movie). I decided to do some nail art representing one of my favourite films from the last few years: Pitch Perfect. It's such a funny film and one you can watch countless times and still love.
Here's my design:

I used No7 Stand BackNo7 So Simple, Models Own Nail Art Pen in yellowModels Own nail art pen in blueModels Own nail art pen in white, Max Factor Diva Violet, Barry M Gelly coconut and Rimmel Lycra Pro Aqua Cool, Models Own Purple Pearl and NYC Ink Stain

31DC2014 Day 22: Inspired by a Song

Hi everyone,
So today's theme is 'Inspired by a song'. Personally I love music, I'm always listening to it in the house, when I go to town, wherever I am music is always on (when possible!). However for some reason I struggled with this theme but in the end I decided to take a big risk.

So some of you may know that I am a Hindu and my family are originally from India. I love Bollywood films and the songs are always so glamorous and colourful. Therefore instead of an English song I decided to show parts of a song from one of my favourite Bollywood films from last year: Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela - modern day version of Romeo and Juliet with a Bollywood twist (You can see the trailer here). Another thing I love about this film is that it is set in Gujrat (an Indian state where my family is from).
Anyway enough about the film and onto the song!

Here is my design:

I used Avon Nailwear Pro + in Real Red, Avon Nailwear Pro + in Licorice, Barry M Gelly Coconut, NYC High Line Green, Revlon Gold Coin, LA Colors Art Deco Nail Striper in Gold, Models Own Peacock Green and Models Own Nail Art Pen in Yellow

31DC2014 Day 21: Inspired by a colour

Hi everyone,
So today's promt is inspired by a colour. The colour I have chosen is pink. To be honest I'm not really a fan of pink in general however recently my collection of pink nail polishes has at the least doubled in size! I decided to do a pink ombré design with a little bit of a geometric/tribal design.

I used Models Own Strawberry Tart, Graffiti Nails Butterfly Pink, 17 Miami, Nails Inc OMP!, Models Own HyperGel Sundress, LA colors Art Deco striper in Black and LA colors Art Deco striper in White.

31DC2014 Day 20: Water Marble

Hi everyone,
So I'm going to be honest when I first saw today's prompt - water marbling, I was a bit cautious. A lot of bloggers struggle with water marbling and I could tell I was going to be one of them.
I can see why people hate water marbling. It's a pain and so messy. I did do a water marble design today, but instead of using water like you're supposed to, I created my own method and did a dry water marble.
Here's the final result:

I used Models Own HyperGel Turquoise Gloss, Models Own HyperGel Purple Glare and Models Own Sundress

31DC2014 Day 19: Galaxies

Hi everyone,
So for day 19 of the 31 Day Nail Art Challenge the theme is Galaxies. I tried out galaxy nails for the first time in February for my 18th Birthday nails (you can see them here). This time I decided to use purple again add in some green to match my base colour Ciate Starlet - a stunning green and purple duochrome.
Here is my design:

I used Ciate Starlet, Models Own Grape Juice, No7 Totally Teal, Models Own Peacock Green, Magenta Pearl, Sinful Colors Snow Me White, Max Factor Fantasy Fire and Sinful Colors Snow Me White

31DC2014 Day 18: Half Moons

Hi everyone,
So today's theme is Half Moons. I love half moons designs they are a classic and always look elegant. The colour combinations are endless too!
Here's my design:

I used Maybelline Color Show Urban Turquoise and LA Colors Art Deco Nail Striper in White

Wednesday, 17 September 2014

31DC 2014 Day 17: Glitter

Hi everyone,
So today's theme is glitter. The design I've decided to do is based on a design I saw over at Roaring Nails (you can see Robin's design here). Robin's design and colour combination is absolutely stunning and I decided to do my own version of her design for today's prompt.
Here's my design:

I used Models Own HyperGel Turquoise Gloss and Models Own Southern Lights

Tuesday, 16 September 2014

31DC2014 Day 16: Geometric

Hi everyone,
So for today's nail art the theme is geometric. Personally I really like geometric nail art however for some reason I struggled to come up with a design for this prompt. In the end I did manage to come up with a design using my Barry m nail art pens which I usually use for this style of nail art.

I used No7 Stand Back, Barry M Nail Art Pen in Black and Barry M Nail Art Pen in White

Monday, 15 September 2014

31DC2014 Day 15: Delicate Print

Hi everyone,
So for today's theme, Delicate Print, I decided to go back to some freehand metallic nail art, which I also did on day 8. This time as the theme is delicate, I decided to draw butterflies on my nails as their wings are so pretty and detailed!
Here's my design:

I used Models Own Aqua Violet, LA Colors Art Deco Nail Striper in White, LA Colors Art Deco Nail Striper in Rainbow Glitter and LA Colors Art Deco Nail Striper in Purple/Blue Glitter

Sunday, 14 September 2014

31DC2014 Day 14: Flowers

Hi everyone,
So today's theme is flowers. There are so many different flower designs out there that it was so hard for me to decided what design I wanted to do! In the end I decided to use a dotting tool to create a simplistic flower design as I usually go for more complicated designs.
Here's what I came up with:

I used Models Own HyperGel Purple Glare, Barry M Matt White and No7 Galaxy

Saturday, 13 September 2014

31DC2014 Day 13: Animal Print

Hi everyone,
So for today's design the theme is Animal Print. I decided to go for the classic tiger print, however I decided to mix it up by adding a gradient.
Here's my design:

I used Sinful Colors Snow Me White, Nails Inc You're a Peach, Nails Inc Atomic and LA Colors Art Deco Nail Striper in Black
