31DC2014 Day 22: Inspired by a Song

Hi everyone,
So today's theme is 'Inspired by a song'. Personally I love music, I'm always listening to it in the house, when I go to town, wherever I am music is always on (when possible!). However for some reason I struggled with this theme but in the end I decided to take a big risk.

So some of you may know that I am a Hindu and my family are originally from India. I love Bollywood films and the songs are always so glamorous and colourful. Therefore instead of an English song I decided to show parts of a song from one of my favourite Bollywood films from last year: Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela - modern day version of Romeo and Juliet with a Bollywood twist (You can see the trailer here). Another thing I love about this film is that it is set in Gujrat (an Indian state where my family is from).
Anyway enough about the film and onto the song!

Here is my design:

I used Avon Nailwear Pro + in Real Red, Avon Nailwear Pro + in Licorice, Barry M Gelly Coconut, NYC High Line Green, Revlon Gold Coin, LA Colors Art Deco Nail Striper in Gold, Models Own Peacock Green and Models Own Nail Art Pen in Yellow

I decided to pick the song Nagada Sang Dohl where the video takes place during a Hindu festival called Navratri which is my favourite festival. It goes on for nine nights and days and invokes lots of dancing and celebrating. The song (and film) stars my favourite Bollywood actress (Deepika Padukone) and I have tried to represent different parts of the music video on my nails.

From left to Right: the diva lamp which is lit at the beginning of the music video, the blouse of the sari Deepika is wearing, her aunt's Sari (the woman in the black sari), the design on Deepika's skirt.
I also added the rangoli pattern which can be seen on the floor towards the end of the music video on my thumbnail:

Overall I'm really happy with how this design has turned out. It was a big risk I took but I am happy with the results as it shows off a different side of me which isn't often showcased on this blog. If you would like to watch the music video from this song you can do so here.
I'm just hoping this risk has paid off and you all like the design!
What do you think of the design?
Have you ever seen a Bollywood film?
Let me know what you think
Jayna
